German tourism experts praised turkey's measures in the tourism sector to prevent the coronavirus, giving these measures a full mark, during their assessment of the Turkish reality in this sector

At the invitation of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a delegation of 35 German tourism experts visited the Turkish city of Izmir from July 16 to 19 to learn about preventive measures taken in tourist facilities

The delegation, which included the owners of leading tourism agencies, tour operators and German tour guides, visited the most important fishing destinations in Izmir and Aydin (west), where they received information on measures taken in the tourism sector to prevent mers-CoV infection

With the spread of the Coronavirus, many of the remote beaches of Izmir have become a kiss for a new type of tourism, called "isolationist tourism"

The coast of Dekili district of Izmir state is one of the main attractions of isolationist tourism, with its many bays and seaheads, 40 kilometres long and 120 kilometres from the centre of Izmi

Safe Tourism

On July 15, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that representatives of companies and tourism experts from seven different German cities will take part in an event to test the "Safe Tourism Certificate" program, which Turkey has begun to implement in light of the coronavirus outbreak

Under the "Safe Tourism Certificate" program, the Turkish Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Tourism and specialized international institutions, provides certificates confirming that hotels, restaurants and resorts are complying with safety standards from the spread of the Coronavirus virus.

The programme relies on four basic pillars: passenger health and safety, worker health and safety, measures taken in facilities and measures taken in transport, through which hygiene and hygiene standards are documented in aircraft, airports, hotels and restaurants

On July 11, WHO Regional Director for Europe, Hans Klug, praised Turkey's success in combating Corona, saying it had met the most important rules

The number of hiv infections and deaths has fallen by 70 percent in Turkey since mid-April, although in June the country saw a slight increase in cases, following the partial abolition of the curfew, before stabilizing again, he said

"Turkey has made good progress in the fight against Corona, where two important developments have been recorded, the first being the gradual opening of airports and the adoption of the Safe Tourism Certificate, as part of the health tourism certification programme, which is adopted as part of the anti-virus measures

Safe holidays

The editor-in-chief of the renowned German tourist magazine Tourist Tourist, Matthias Gortler, said they had come to Turkey to check on the prevention of the coronavirus, which was taken in Turkish tourist facilities

"We're here to see how Turkey solves this problem, we've seen many hotels and we've travelled by bus, my impression was good, because Turkey has spared no effort to take effective prevention measures," Gortler said.
"Turkey is a major destination for safe holidays, in fact we hope that the EU will lift travel restrictions to Turkey as soon as possible, as such restrictions are already ridiculous."

"The restrictions on travel to Turkey, which the EU has taken primarily for health reasons, may be caused by political factors, as well, especially since the risk of contracting MERS-CoV in Turkey is not greater than the risk of contracting it in Spain or Italy," Gortler said.

 German turnout

An official at Holzapfel Tourism In Germany, Bastian Weepfler, said he spent many of his holidays in Turkey, describing the recent experience as "wonderful."

During his current visit, Weepfeller noted that during his current visit, he went to tourist facilities and destinations in Izmir and Aydin states, including all tourist-visited beaches, and saw for himself preventive measures

"Turkey's preventive measures to provide safe tourism are in line with international standards," he said, noting that "the quality of preventive measures in Turkey is better than those taken in many parts of Europe."

Weepfeller called on the European Council to lift the list of travel restrictions to Turkey, calling on its German citizens to spend their holidays in Turkey, as it provides safe tourism, high-quality tourist facilities and beautiful beaches

Turkey's progress

"Turkey has had a very successful year in terms of the 2019 tourism season," said Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nader Alb Aslan

Turkey received more than 43 million tourists in 2019, with revenues of USD 34.5 billion, up 17% from 2018, according to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Statistics Institute

"The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has drawn up a plan to attract more than 75 million tourists to Turkey by 2023," Hesaid

"The Corona epidemic, which has spread throughout the world, has had a negative impact on the global tourism sector, including Turkey," he said

"Turkey has implemented important and sensitive measures to ensure safe tourism for visitors and to return to the bright days of the tourism sector," said Turkey's Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism
